Helping the church embrace the faithful practice of lament.

This website is provided as a resource to the Church by JOHN W. NIELSON.  This project grew out of John's Pastoral Reasearch Project for his Doctor of Minstry Degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary (PRACTICES OF CORPORATE LAMENT FOR THE LOCAL PARISH: A RESOURCE FOR PASTORS).  It is is hope to provide resources for the church to help encourage the faithful practice of lament. While there has been renewed focus on the  topic of lament and the biblical patterns for lament, there are not many resources available for the practice of lament. The resources that do exist can be difficult to locate.

DR. JOHN W. NIELSON has served as Lead Pastor of Melwood Church of the Nazarene in Upper Marlboro, MD since August 1994.  Prior to that he served as Associate Pastor for Worship and Lay Development at St. Paul's Church of the Nazarene in Kansas City, MO.  A graduate of Eastern Nazarene College (B.A. in Religion), Nazarene Theological Seminary (M.Div, D Min), Pastor John is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene.  He and his wife, Amy, have three daughters, Bethany Wong, Kathryn, and Jenna. Pastor John has a passion for worship, spiritual formation and authentic Christian community. All of these passions have led him to take an interest in helping the church do a better job at embracing lament as a faithful and regular practice.

Pastor John enjoys reading, music, and spending time with his family. He tries not too eat too many Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, and is more successful some times than others.
